Untouched by man and how it develops on it’s own, how great!

My daughter loves non-fiction books and we love reading them together. We just got done having a STEM night at school and we had display of science-themed books set up during the event.

Your reply made my day! When I wrote Citizen Scientists, I’d hoped that teachers could use it just as you describe.

I’m in Massachusetts too, and FrogWatch season is about to get underway. I’ve been watching the forecast and listening for frogs all afternoon. The next couple days look warm and wet, just how migrating amphibians like it!

It reminded me of the first of Loree ‘ s books I read and that was Citizen Science. I was a classroom teacher at the time and a Presidential Awardee when I read the book and thought about how I might use it with my students. I then wrote up the lesson and presented it at the NSTA annual conference. My favorite part of the book was about the bird count and the students and I had our own mini-rural Vermont bird count. I am now back in MA and a k-5 science coach who is trying to help teachers integrate awesome science trade books into their implementation of new science standards. I am also a graduate of UMASS Amherst!
